Ringwood East is located between Railway Avenue and Patterson Street, with station access from both.
The station consists of two platforms, in an island format, with a large pebblemix building at the Flinders Street end of the station. A large Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to the island platform, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. Coin-only Metcard and myki ticket vending machines are also located at the entrance, as well as a disused ticket office window.
Recently, the enclosed waiting area has been upgraded with ramps for disabled passengers. Entrance to the waiting area is now at the Lilydale end of the building rather than the sides.
Ringwood East station opened on 18 May 1925.[1] The current island platform was opened in 1984 as part of the line duplication between Ringwood and Croydon. Boom barriers were provided at Dublin Road in the same year.[2]
